The centre of Villanovan civilisation and the birthplace of the Malatesta family: Two intertwined stories set against the scenic beauty of the Marecchia River Valley.
We will step together into the oldest heart of Verucchio, beginning our visit at the Archaeological Museum. Here, history comes to life before our eyes: extraordinary artifacts, ancient evidence of the Villanovan civilization, and the famous wooden throne—an object unique in the world that tells us about rituals, power, and daily life from over three thousand years ago.
We will then leave the museum to immerse ourselves in the soul of the village, strolling through the narrow streets of Verucchio. At every step, timeless views unfold, with panoramas over the Valmarecchia and the Adriatic coast, and perfectly preserved medieval atmospheres. It will be a journey of stories, legends, and traditions that still live on among these stones.
The tour will culminate at the Malatesta Fortress of Verucchio, an imposing stronghold and symbol of Malatesta power. From here, the view stretches across the valley as we relive the story of Malatesta da Verucchio, the legendary “Mastin Vecchio” mentioned by Dante. It is in this unique setting that we will pause to enjoy an authentic tasting experience, sampling typical local products presented directly by producers from the area.
