FORTRESS
The imposing Fortress of Verucchio, fortified by the Lord Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta in 1449, is one of the largest and best preserved Malatesta fortresses over the years. Hier, the fortress’s history can be captured during the visit of its wonderful halls, its basements or even its imposing Torre Mastio (Mastio Tower). From here the Panorama is breathtaking: the gaze wander from the gentle cost of Rimini to the high peaks of the Apennines. Icon of the fortress is “la Guardiola” that houses a beautiful clock, still working today. Priceless treasure of the “Rocca del Sasso” (“Stone fortress”), another fortress’s name thanks to its peculiar location on a spur of rocks, is the marvelous genealogical tree of the Malatesta lordship.
